Sacked Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers makes his job plans crystal clear after West Ham links amid David Moyes doubts.

David Moyes has found himself under intense pressure at West Ham this season with many fans calling for his head.

While a win is a win – and three points were genuinely all that mattered – the performance against Southampton has done little to sway opinion over the Hammers boss.

The West Ham board have stuck by Moyes while a host of mangers have been linked as potential replacements for many months.

And it is clear the Scot will be the West Ham manager until the summer at least.

But when we get there – hopefully still as a Premier League side – West Ham intend to part ways with Moyes ‘regardless’ according to a recent report.

Given that Brendan Rodgers is one of the names to have been linked as a potential replacement for Moyes at West Ham, the development at Leicester was big news for the Hammers on Sunday.

Leicester sacked Rodgers after the Foxes slipped into the relegation zone as a result of West Ham’s win over Southampton.

That sparked fresh speculation he could be the man West Ham turn to in the summer.

Hammers News reported on how the timing could not have worked out better in that regard because of the dearth of jobs available and the fact Rodgers will want to take a short break before his next assignment.

Now the man himself has spoken and says he is very much up for a new job after taking a couple of months to refresh.

“I am obviously disappointed to depart so close to the end of the season and had every confidence that we would have delivered the results needed to preserve the club’s Premier League status,” Rodgers said in a classy farewell message.

“I would like to wish everybody at the club the very best of luck as they seek to continue to deliver on this objective.

“I’m now looking forward to having a chance to reflect and recharge and get ready for the next opportunity.”

Many West Ham fans are hoping that ‘next opportunity’ will be at the London Stadium.

With a full transfer window and pre-season, Rodgers could be exactly the forward-thinking manager the Hammers need to take this squad to the next level.

He was working under serious financial constraints at Leicester whereas at West Ham he would get a very decent transfer kitty, which will likely be added to by the impending big money sale of Declan Rice come the summer.
