Roy Keane made a spiteful West Ham relegation dig in the ITV studio before his ultimate insult Spurs comparison rant.
As if the frustrating manner of West Ham’s surrender in the 3-1 FA Cup fifth round defeat to Man United was not bad enough, Hammers fans had to suffer Keane in a particularly mischievous mood.
West Ham threw away a 1-0 lead and a host of gilt-edged chances at Old Trafford. And with it a golden opportunity to potentially end their 43-year major trophy drought in one of the most wide open FA Cups for decades.
Half of the quarter-finalists are from outside the top flight.
And that’s where West Ham will be next season according to Man United legend Keane.

The pundit did not have a good word to say about West Ham all night long and was particularly scathing of “over-hyped” Declan Rice.
Keane made a spiteful West Ham relegation dig in the ITV studio before his ultimate insult Spurs comparison rant.
Premier League legend Keane was sitting alongside former Hammers stars Joe Cole and Ian Wright as they discussed West Ham’s four decade wait to win silverware.
And Keane chimed in: “They might win the Championship next year” in reference to West Ham’s fight for survival in the Premier League.
He was not done there, though. Far from it.

Keane, correctly it must be said, criticised West Ham’s “shocking and useless” defending and woeful finishing, labelling the Hammers attackers ‘lazy’.
He then hit the Hammers with the ultimate insult, comparing them to ridiculed bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur – who were also dumped out by Sheffield United.
“I’ve seen it all before – they (West Ham) come, they get a bit giddy, they have opportunities,” Keane said on ITV.
“It’s loads of teams – not just West Ham but the Spurs’ of this world. They come to Old Trafford, they have a little bit of possession, one or two chances, get all excited and they’re getting plaudits and end up getting beaten…
“I’ve seen it over the years, honestly it’s laughable.”

Being compared to Spurs for that reason will sting for West Ham fans.
West Ham’s big rivals Tottenham have become the very definition of a club that underachieves.
Indeed Tottenham even have their own word in the dictionary ‘Spursy’ – which essentially means to have success within reach but to ultimately throw it away.
West Ham certainly did that last night.
But it was clearly lost on Keane that West Ham could and should have been out of sight against his beloved Man United.
Indeed had Danny Ings been able to play up front to be on the end of the chances Michail Antonio spurned, West Ham would have won comfortably.
