West Ham United are due to receive compensation from FIFA after the hamstring injury suffered by Michail Antonio whilst on international duty with Jamaica.
Michail Antonio signed a new £100k-a-week contract with West Ham recently (the Sun), but that’s now looking like a terrible decision from the Hammers, after he suffered a hamstring injury when playing for Jamaica yesterday.

The 33-year-old has been in terrible form this season, with just two goals to his name so far, and David Moyes dropped him for our last two games.

Rumours have been circling that Antonio could be moved on in January, but that won’t be happening now after his hamstring injury – especially if it’s a serious one.
Losing the Jamaica international for a sustained period of time will be a big blow for West Ham in spite of his poor form this season, but FIFA will be compensating us financially it seems…
Michail Antonio injury windfall incoming
Sean Whetstone – a reporter with close connections to Hammers co-owner David Sullivan – reckons that FIFA are set to pay Michail Antonio’s £100k-a-week wages for a total of four weeks, in accordance with the ‘club protection programme’.
Whetstone took to his official Twitter account to share the news today:
So that will work out at around £400,000 that West Ham are due in compensation as a result of the Antonio injury.
It’s better than nothing but my word, it really is scant consolation isn’t it! We now have Jarrod Bowen, who’s not really a centre-forward, Danny Ings, who is utterly useless, and Divin Mubama – an inexperienced teenager – as our only striker options.
West Ham will receive money from FIFA after the Antonio injury but in the grand scheme of things, it’s pocket change for a Premier League club really.
Hopefully Antonio being out injured will force the Hammers owners to buy a striker in the January transfer window.
