West Ham United have reportedly had an approach for St Louis City sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel rejected.

According to Kicker, West Ham made a move for Lutz Pfannenstiel to become the new Sporting Director at the London Stadium.

He was first linked with a move to East London a couple of weeks ago.

Quite where that would leave Mark Noble is anyone’s guess. However, the Hammers hit a brick wall in their pursuit of the 50-year-old German.

It seems as though there could be a big shake up at the London Stadium this summer.

Hammers co-owner David Sullivan is allegedly ready to take back control of transfers from David Moyes, after the Scot made an array of highly questionable additions last year.

And it seems as though there could be some big changes behind the scenes…

Kicker reckon that the Hammers have had an approach for the St Louis City Sporting Director knocked back by the MLS side.

He has been described as an ‘ultimate journeyman’ by The Guardian. And it’s fair to say that his work as a Sporting Director has been far more impressive than his time as a player.

Pfannenstiel has worked wonders with St Louis in the MLS.

The Missouri outfit are currently sitting in third spot in the Western Conference MLS table after some fantastic summer recruitment.

Lutz Pfannenstiel would obviously be a very exciting addition for West Ham at the end of the season.

However, with Mark Noble having taken up his role only four months ago, bringing in the German would be a really strange move timing wise.

Whilst there are plenty of people who think that the former Hammers skipper isn’t qualified for the role, he hasn’t had a chance yet to prove himself. And for that reason I find West Ham’s interest in Pfannenstiel to be really bizarre.
