West Ham and Tottenham could go head-to-head for the managerial appointment of Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri this summer.
That’s according to a report from Italian media outlet Il Messaggero who claim that West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur both have ambitious plans to prise the 64-year-old ex-Chelsea boss away from Lazio.

Maurizio Sarri is one of the very best managers around, so it’s no surprise that West Ham and Tottenham might want to appoint him.

It seems as though the Hammers will face competition from Spurs for the Italian though, with David Moyes and Antonio Conte both facing uncertain futures at their respective clubs…
West Ham and Tottenham set for Maurizio Sarri battle
It seems as though the 64-year-old manager could be plying his trade back in the Premier League at either the London Stadium or the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.
According to Il Messaggero, he wants assurances from Lazio that he will be given sufficient money to spend this summer, otherwise he may be tempted to abandon ship and move back to England.
Sarri is an exceptional manager in my opinion, and I would absolutely love him at West Ham.
Sarri moved to the Premier League from Napoli to take over at Chelsea in the summer of 2018. He only lasted one season at Stamford Bridge though, after struggling to keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table.
The experienced Italian is well-renowned for the exceptionally attacking and easy-on-the-eye football that he gets his teams to play.

It is a highly attractive playing style, and he has his team operate with a really high defensive line and a zonal marking system.
Sarri urges his players to use the football as a point of reference rather than opposing players. The Italian would undoubtedly get a tune out of the West Ham players, considering how much quality we have at the London Stadium.
Described as a ‘visionary genius’ by Chelsea ace Kalidou Koulibaly (These Football Times), the experienced Italian would take us to a whole new level as a team in my view.
However, whether West Ham are able to beat Tottenham to the signature of Maurizio Sarri in the summer remains to be seen.
