A report has made a surprising claim over what key senior West Ham players have told the board about David Moyes.

West Ham’s beleaguered manager Moyes admitted the team hit a new low since his return to the club in 2020 with the performance and result against Brighton last time out.

That has inevitably resulted in a fresh round of speculation on the Scot’s future at West Ham.

Majority stakeholder David Sullivan responded to that talk by telling Hammers News he and the board were still backing the manager.

But he also made it clear he was unimpressed with the display and result.

A host of managers have been linked as potential replacements for Moyes with the latest being Jose Mourinho.

That particular speculation has been denied by a West Ham insider.

In the wake of the the Hammers horror at Brighton there have also been reports of unrest.

And The Guardian have claimed West Ham’s players feel Moyes’s negative approach to games is holding them back.

So a new report has made a surprising claim over what senior West Ham players have told the board about Moyes.

According to sources speaking to Football Insider, Moyes still has the backing of his West Ham squad as the pressure on his position grows.

So much so the report claims senior Hammers stars have told the board to keep Moyes amid the recent rumours he could be sacked.

It would not be difficult for West Ham’s players to get such a message to the boardroom given Mark Noble is now the club’s sporting director and he remains close with much of the first team squad.

But Moyes, the board and indeed West Ham fans would much rather the players show they want the manager to stay by getting results on the pitch.
