Report makes big behind the scenes Gianluca Scamacca claim that will concern the West Ham fans

The West Ham United coaching staff are reportedly very concerned about summer signing Gianluca Scamacca.

That’s according to the Athletic who claim that the West Ham coaches are worried about the 24-year-old forward’s fitness, hold-up play and the fact that he doesn’t win many aerial duels.

Scamacca moved to the London Stadium from Sassuolo for around £35 million in the summer transfer window (Sky Sports).

However, the Italian has really struggled under David Moyes since moving to the Hammers eight months ago.

And things went bad from worse for him from a personal perceptive a couple of weeks ago when he was dropped by his representatives World Soccer Agency.

Things obviously haven’t gone as well as expected for Scamacca at West Ham, and there are allegedly some real concerns about him behind the scenes at the London Stadium…

Gianluca Scamacca is not impressing West Ham coaches

The Athletic claim that the Hammers coaching staff have been underwhelmed by the Italy international so far.

My honest opinion is that he definitely needs to do more and put himself about more but the main reason for his struggles so far is the negative way in which Moyes sets up his team.

Scamacca has never played as a lone centre-forward throughout his career.

He flourished last year at Sassuolo with Domenico Berardi and Giacomo Raspadori playing alongside him.

Moyes has failed to grasp the fact that not every striker is capable of running the channels like Michail Antonio is and in order to get the best out of Scamacca, the Scot needs to play two up top.

Ings playing alongside the Italian would get the best out of both forwards in my opinion.

So, whilst Gianluca Scamacca might not be impressing the West Ham coaches, I reckon that the feeling might well be mutual.

Hopefully Moyes and his staff come to the realisation that Scamacca needs to be played in a different system. And if they’re not prepared to change things in order to accommodate him, the Hammers might as well sell the 24-year-old in the summer.
