A new report quoting a football finance expert claims West Ham could be in early process of a new Prime sponsorship deal.

As reported by Hammers News last season, West Ham are one of a host of clubs who could face having to find a new main sponsor if the Government ends up banning betting companies from featuring on football club shirts.

The Hammers are one of nine clubs in the Premier League that has a gambling company as their main sponsor on the front of their kits and pitchside.

Betway started sponsoring West Ham back in 2015. And West Ham extended that deal for six years back in 2019.

As reported last season, the Government was said to be leaning towards implementing a ban on football shirts being able to have gambling companies as their main sponsors following numerous protests.

Back in September, a source told SportsMail: “We are pretty sure there is going to be an end to front-of-shirt advertising. Everybody is expecting that. Reformers want more but a lot of politicians are worried about the lower leagues.

“The Government thinks front-of-shirt will catch the headlines and it will feel like it has made a bold statement.

Reports suggested betting firms could be banned from the 2023-24 season – if the Government decides to take action.

And given the current global economic climate, finding a new sponsor may prove somewhat difficult, even for a big Premier League club like West Ham.

The club could have something already in the works, though, after the recent actions of famous YouTuber KSI.

A new report quoting a football finance expert claims West Ham could be in early process of a new Prime sponsorship deal.

According to West Ham Zone columnist  Dr Daniel Plumley,  West Ham may be set to test the waters with Prime ahead of a potential new sponsorship deal.

Prime is a new brand of beverage sold by Prime Hydration, a company was founded by YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul, alongside Max Clemons of Congo Brands.

Prime currently has a partnership with West Ham’s Premier League rivals Arsenal. And KSI recently revealed that the sports drink is likely to go on sale at West Ham’s London Stadium.

No West Ham Zone columnist  Dr Plumley believes the Hammers could be looking to expand should Prime be able to afford to sign off on another deal.

“It seems that way, doesn’t it?,” Dr Plumley told West Ham Zone.

“If it works, there is good exposure and the energy drink company itself continues to grow and can afford it, you may be looking at sponsorship deals further down the line.

“That’s what this seems to be to me, exposure first and foremost, let’s see what it’s like and see if we can do a deal on that.”

This time last year Hammers News exclusively reported word from a city source that £4bn US sportswear brand Footlocker – part-owned by none other than Daniel Kretinsky – could be a potential new West Ham sponsor.

It was also claimed recently that West Ham could try to do a deal with the likes of Amazon over naming rights for the London Stadium.
