West Ham United’s owners are ‘likely’ to look at Sean Dyche and ex Aston Villa man Steven Gerrard if boss David Moyes is sacked.

That’s according to a new report from a West Ham website close to the Hammers hierarchy after recent links to glamour names such as Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino.

Moyes is a man under serious pressure at West Ham with the club just one point off the bottom three as the Premier League pauses for the World Cup.

The issue for Moyes is that West Ham’s malaise is nothing new. The Hammers have been struggling for the best part of a year and have won just 13 of their last 42 Prem games.

West Ham also have the joint second worst goal record this season, finding the net just 12 times as we approach the halfway stage of the season.

West Ham are even four points and four places behind Aston Villa, who deemed their season to be going so badly they sacked Gerrard and replaced him with Unai Emery.

It was something of a surprise when Burnley sacked Dyche last season – just before they played West Ham. He has been out of work ever since.

But there were no surprises when former Rangers boss Gerrard was shown the door by Aston Villa.

Perhaps the only surprise was that they hadn’t done it sooner given the vultures had been circling for some time in the press.

West Ham’s majority stakeholder David Sullivan publicly backed Moyes when speaking to Hammers News recently.

But that was before further defeats to Blackburn reserves in the Carabao Cup and Leicester.

Things don’t get much easier for West Ham after the break. Moyes takes his side to league leaders Arsenal on Boxing Day evening.

And insiders have let it be known that should the Hammers lose that, the Scot needs to take at least six points from the following three games – against Brentford, Leeds and Wolves – to avoid the axe.

Many fans have grown fed up of Moyes’ perceived negative tactics and approach and want a more attack-minded manager who can get the best out of an expensively assembled squad.

Jeunes Footeux recently claimed that the Hammers have tested the waters for ex Spurs boss Pochettino, who still lives in London.

And he put West Ham on red alert this week when he revealed he is ready to return to club management.

But Hammers fans should forget about the club appointing a Pochettino or Tuchel.

Because West Ham owners are ‘likely’ to look at Dyche and ex Aston Villa man Gerrard if boss Moyes is sacked according to a new report.

“We have reported in the past that a top agent well known to Claret and Hugh believes they have to show ambition by moving for top names,” Claret and Hugh report.

“Pochettino and Tuchel are out of work and we were told: “The Hammers have to show their ambition by at least going for one of the other or both”.

“The reality is that we are more likely to be looking at the likes of Sean Dyche and Steven Gerrard – sacked from Burnley and Aston Villa respectively.”

Links to Dyche and Gerrard – and particularly the latter – will undoubtedly cause a stir among West Ham fans.

Neither are likely to be universally popular appointments should Moyes be relieved of his duties.

At the start of November Hammers News suggested a move for Thomas Frank would be a wise appointment for a number of reasons.

And who knows perhaps he could lure longstanding West Ham target Ivan Toney to the London Stadium to join him if the Hammers did go down that road.
