It is a case of no money mo problems for David Moyes as a report makes a worrying claim about West Ham United’s owners.
The January transfer window is never a time any manager or club would necessarily choose to do business.
It often smacks of desperation, ill-planning and an admission that recruitment prior to that has not been good enough.
Having spent £170m on eight signings in the summer, nobody – let alone Moyes – expected West Ham would need to be active in the winter window.
How wrong that was.

The Hammers are desperately short in both full-back areas, they may need a new centre-back if Craig Dawson is granted the move he desires and the team is seriously lacking options in attack.
You could even make a case to say West Ham need another central midfielder with Tomas Soucek struggling to hit the high standards he had set for himself.
It is not easy to see a way out of the current malaise when the Premier League resumes in a few weeks.
Because it is not new this season. West Ham have won just 13 of their last 42 league games and the simple fact is, young modern pacy players are needed in key areas if the team is to progress.
Legendary rapper Notorious BIG made the phrase ‘mo money mo problems’ famous.
But it looks like it will be a case of no money mo problems for Moyes as a report makes a worrying claim about the West Ham owners.
According to a club insider speaking to website Claret and Hugh, West Ham’s owners David Sullivan, Daniel Kretinsky and David Gold will refuse to give Moyes any money to spend in January.
Instead they are demanding the Scot makes it work with the players he has. And the best Moyes can hope for is a couple of loan players.
“West Ham have no money to spend strengthening the squad when the January window opens after the club’s cash splash of over £150 million in the summer…” Claret and Hugh claim.
“The very best he can hope for in the window is MAYBE a couple of loans should he remain in place with the club having made it clear results and performances MUST improve.”

If that truly is the case then it is extremely worrying indeed. If you stand still in football you get left behind.
It is clear the team still needs new players in several areas. The West Ham board are well within their rights to demand Moyes does better with that he has at his disposal.
But you are only as good as your weakest link. And there are too many of them at West Ham, particularly at full-back.
The January window is always there as a safety net for managers if a season isn’t panning out how they might have hoped.
But the GSBK claims from Claret and Hugh mean there is no safety net for Moyes.
So if he can’t get it right then West Ham could come crashing down to earth with a bump.
