Key Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus looks set to miss the West Ham clash after being ruled out of the rest of the World Cup with injury.
If you were looking for a football changing room that is the polar opposite of Brazil’s for the World Cup, West Ham’s would not be a bad place to start.
While the boys in that famous yellow jersey have excitedly come together to try and win the biggest prize in football, West Ham are spending the break down in the doldrums.
Sitting top of the league and flying with Arsenal, life has been sweet for Gunners duo Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.

For West Ham’s record £51m signing Lucas Paqueta it will be a stark contrast.
The West Ham and Arsenal stars have helped Brazil into the last 16 where they will face Republic of Korea.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and under pressure David Moyes will have been watching the World Cup action praying their stars come back unscathed.
West Ham are just one point off the bottom three as the Premier League pauses for the World Cup.
And things don’t get any easier after the break with the Hammers facing a daunting trip to play Arsenal at The Emirates on Boxing Day evening.
Moyes will take any help he can get right now. And some disappointing news for Arsenal will come as a major boost for West Ham today.

Because key Arsenal star Jesus looks set to miss the West Ham clash after being ruled out of the rest of the World Cup with injury.
Gunners striker Jesus suffered an injury in Brazil’s defeat to Cameroon on Friday night – a game in which West Ham ace Paqueta was rested.
And the Arsenal striker is set for a month on the treatment table after feeling pain in his right knee, according to Brazilian outlet Globo – as also reported by the likes of The Mirror.
“The Arsenal ace is ruled out for the remainder of the World Cup after sustaining an injury during Brazil’s third and final group stage game against Cameroon and may not be fit for the resumption of the Premier League season either,” it is being reported.
Reporter Fabrizio Romano also claims sources close to Jesus have confirmed he is out until January.
“Gabriel Jesus will miss the rest of the World Cup, sources close to player and Brazil confirm. He has pain in his knee and won’t be able to be back during the competition,” Romano said on Twitter.
“Gabriel’s expected to return in January with Arsenal.”
It is never nice to see players injured of course.
Especially as it causes the Arsenal star to miss the World Cup.
But the news will undeniably come as a big boost for Moyes and West Ham who simply must hit the ground running when the Premier League resumes.
