Emerson Palmieri came into the side at the Etihad, and operated as a left wing-back – his best position. The 28-year-old made a shaky start to life with the Hammers, but has really impressed over the past couple of months.

Gary Neville praises West Ham ace during Manchester City defeat

The Sky Sports pundit was highly complimentary of the Hammers defender during our 3-0 defeat at the Etihad last night.

Neville raved about Emerson Palmieri’s display during commentary on Sky Sports (Wednesday May 3rd, 9:26pm):

“He’s been good tonight Emerson, he has played really well.”

Emerson offers us something completely different down the left hand side.

He should be starting week in, week out for West Ham ahead of the ageing Aaron Cresswell in my opinion.

Hopefully David Moyes gives the Italian a consistent run of games between now and the end of the season.

He certainly deserves that after his performance for West Ham against Manchester City last night, and Gary Neville’s praise should do him the world of good confidence wise as well.

The Hammers paid just £15 million to bring Emerson to the London Stadium from Chelsea in the summer (Daily Mail), and that now looks like fantastic business from the club.
