One West Ham player has given Kalvin Phillips quite the welcome during his first training session with the club.

Kalvin Phillips was officially confirmed as a West Ham player this morning, although we’ve only signed him on loan, and he took part in his first training session for the club today at Rush Green.

He actually admitted that he could have joined us two years ago, had circumstances been different. Phillips ended up moving to Manchester City instead in the summer of 2022 for around £45 million (Sky Sports), but now we’ve finally got our man.

Hammers boss David Moyes has secured a real coup with the signing of the 28-year-old as far as I’m concerned.

He’ll undoubtedly form an excellent central midfield partnership for West Ham United with Edson Alvarez.

The Mexican joined West Ham in the summer from Ajax, and has instantly endeared himself to the London Stadium faithful with his full-throttle displays.

That aggressive and tenacious attitude was on full display at Rush Green today as well…

You can always rely on Alvarez to get stuck in, whether it’s during a match or on the training pitch!

I for one can’t wait to see the Mexican and the Englishman working in tandem in the middle of the park for the Hammers.

If today’s training session is anything to go by, Kalvin Phillips and Edson Alvarez are going to form quite the partnership.

Signing the 28-year-old on loan will end up looking like a master-stroke by Moyes, if he remains injury free of course. And the Scot may have had a quiet word with Alvarez after today’s session, asking him to ease up a bit on the England international!
