Kalvin Phillips has just made an astonishing West Ham United admission, after signing on the dotted line.
West Ham today confirmed the signing of Kalvin Phillips on loan until the end of the season, and the 28-year-old has already shared his excitement at what lies ahead for him in East London.
Phillips, who will wear the number 11 shirt for West Ham, is a big statement signing for the Hammers, and David Moyes will be delighted to have him at the club.
The transfer has been a long time coming – Moyes wanted to sign the England international midfielder back in January 2022, and then again in the summer transfer window of that year.
He ended up joining Manchester City instead 18 months ago for around £45 million (Sky Sports) but unfortunately for him, he has barely played under Pep Guardiola.
Phillips will now get the chance to feature regularly for the Hammers. Perhaps he should have joined us originally instead of Man City…

Kalvin Phillips makes astonishing West Ham admission
The 28-year-old is now a Hammers player until the end of the season at the very least.
However, Phillips suggested that he could have been a West Ham player a lot sooner, had things worked out differently, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“I’m delighted to get it over the dotted line. I was over in Abu Dhabi on a warm-weather training camp with City, and all I could think about was getting the loan sorted. Honestly, if City hadn’t come in for me back in the summer of 2022 I think I could’ve come to West Ham before. The manager has told me he’s been after me for two years or so, so it’s almost like it’s inevitable that I’m finally here. I just can’t wait to get going now.”
Let that sink in. Had he not joined Manchester City – the best club in world football by a long way, he would have joined us…little old West Ham!
The Hammers have made some really big signings over the past 18 months – deals that, in my opinion, have taken us to another level as far as stature goes.
Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta are the two standout examples of that, and now West Ham have gone one step further by signing proven England international Kalvin Phillips.
These are really exciting times to be a West Ham fan and I have a real feeling that we’re on the cusp of achieving something very special indeed. The signing of Phillips will transform us as team, if he remains injury free.
