Paul Merson has made his prediction for the West Ham vs Crystal Palace Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.
West Ham play host to Crystal Palace in the 1400 Premier League kick-off, and Paul Merson has made a rather bold prediction.
The Hammers have won our last two Premier League games and we’re currently sitting in ninth spot in the table, five points and four places ahead of the Eagles.
David Moyes will be pleased with the results over the past few weeks – it’s four consecutive wins in all competitions for the boys now – but he won’t be delighted with the performances.
Hopefully we can turn all of that around this weekend and win with style. I must say, I doubt that will happen.
I reckon we’ll win, but it will be an extremely difficult clash with Palace coming to town…
Paul Merson makes West Ham vs West Ham prediction
The well-renowned football pundit has been making some top drawer predictions recently.
And I’ll be absolutely delighted if he’s called this one spot on as well come four o’clock Sunday evening.
Merson predicted a three goal win for the Hammers, when writing his regular column for Sportskeeda:
“West Ham United should win this one. Crystal Palace have too many injuries. Eberechi Eze is out. He is a massive player for them. If he is not there, they are without their X-factor. The Hammers will be way too much for the Eagles. I don’t see Palace grinding it out against West Ham. Moyes’ men got a very good result against Burnley last weekend and will kick on in a similar fashion.”
Prediction: West Ham 3-0 Crystal Palace
We’ve only won two of our last nine Premier League meetings with Palace remember, so it’s far from a foregone conclusion that we’ll beat them on Sunday.
It’s also worth noting that the Hammers haven’t emerged victorious against the Eagles at the London Stadium since 2018!
Despite the fact that Eberechi Eze and Cheick Doucoure will be missing for Palace this weekend, I still think it will be a tough game for us.
I expect West Ham United to beat Crystal Palace but I certainly don’t agree with the Paul Merson prediction. It will be a tight game, and I reckon we’ll emerge from the clash as 2-1 winners.
