Paul Merson made his prediction for the outcome of Burnley vs West Ham when writing his regular column for Sportskeeda.
West Ham are currently flying high in fourth spot in the Premier League table whilst the Clarets are struggling and find themselves inside the bottom three, three points adrift of safety.
David Moyes’s men should have more than enough to beat Burnley. But it’s never as simple as that in the Premier League is it?
Turf Moor is always a very tough place to go and win.
Paul Merson makes Burnley vs West Ham prediction
The Hammers have been very consistent this season and if Moyes’s men turn up at Turf Moor, we should win the game.
The Clarets will undoubtedly make it difficult for us but if Cornet is unavailable it will definitely be advantage West Ham. The 25-year-old has bagged five goals and one assist in 11 games for the Claret since joining in the summer from Lyon (Transfermarkt).
And Merson explained how the result of the game could depend heavily on Cornet’s availability:
“Burnley are a hard team to beat and they most likely won’t go down this season. A lot depends on Maxwell Cornet’s fitness this weekend. He wreaked havoc against Newcastle and I thought Burnley would go on to win. After he picked up his knock, their attack disappeared. This is another big game for West Ham. They got a massive result against Chelsea last week and have been excellent this season. West Ham have a big team and have been very strong at set-pieces. You need to defend well when you go to Burnley and I think David Moyes will pick up another victory here.”
Prediction: Burnley 0-2 West Ham United
If Cornet doesn’t play is will be a very big blow for Burnley and a huge boost for West Ham.
A win at Turf Moor will be absolutely vital to our top four hopes.
Let’s hope that every single Hammers player turns up. COYI X
