Paul Merson makes a really disappointing Jarrod Bowen prediction

Sky Sports pundit has just made a very disappointing prediction about West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen.

Jarrod Bowen has been absolutely on fire for West Ham so far this season, and his teammate Mohammed Kudus recently predicted that he will get even better, but Paul Merson thinks some bad news is on the way.

The Hammers forward has bagged 18 goals and seven assists in 37 games in all competitions so far this term (Transfermarkt).

He is one of the leading contenders for the Hammer of the Year award, and if he continues scoring and assisting at the clip he has done already this season, he’ll most likely win it.

David Moyes will be absolutely delighted with the form that Bowen has shown this season. He has reached a whole new level entirely, and Mark Noble recently shared that the West Ham gaffer sees the former Hull City man ending up as a centre-forward in the future.

Jarrod’s fine form has been rewarded with a call-up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate ahead of EURO 2024, and he’ll be hoping to be included for this summer’s international tournament.

I think he’ll be a real asset for Southgate out in Germany this summer, and he’ll provide genuine quality cover for Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.

However, there could be some bad news on the horizon for the Hammers star according to Merson…

The Sky Sports pundit is obviously a very big fan of Bowen, and has absolutely raved about him on multiple occasions in the past.

However, the 56-year-old has now explained why he believes the West Ham star could be set for some heartbreak.

Merson suggested that Bowen could end up disappointed this summer, when writing a column for Sky Sports:

“Jarrod Bowen can play in three or four positions across the frontline. I like him, he’s a manager’s dream and gives you everything but he might just miss out of the Euros squad. He’s unlucky but Southgate has so many options. He’d have been sweating if Sterling was ripping it up. There’s going to be some disappointed players this summer.”

Listen, I think Bowen should be a shoo-in to go out to Germany for the Euros with England this summer.

We are well stocked in the left wing department, but who do we have to compete with Saka out on the right? It depends if Southgate sees Phil Foden as someone who could play in that position or not.

Either way, I still think that the 27-year-old former Hull City winger has a lot to offer the Three Lions.

Paul Merson thinks that Jarrod Bowen will miss out on the England squad for EURO 2024 though, and if that does happen, I believe it will be incredibly harsh on the West Ham ace.
