West Ham United are eyeing up a move to sign Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the January transfer window.
According to a report from Sussex World, West Ham could make a move to bring Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City to the London Stadium in January.

And if that is true, it could well mean the end of Flynn Downes as a Hammers player.

The 24-year-old midfielder was sent out on loan to Southampton by David Moyes in the summer, after a trying first season with West Ham.
The tenacious tackling former Swansea City man seems to be more suited to Championship football than the Premier League. And I reckon his time at the London Stadium could be nearing an end…
24-year-old could be finished at West Ham as Moyes eyes move for Kalvin Phillips
If the Hammers do sign the 27-year-old in January, where on earth will that leave Downes when he returns to East London in the summer?
I firmly believe that he’ll be moved on by Moyes, maybe on a permanent deal to Southampton.

Downes will be able to forge a decent career for himself at a club like the Saints.
I don’t actually want Phillips anywhere near West Ham – he’s far too injury prone. I would much prefer Moyes to move for a younger, more powerful and dynamic central midfielder to challenge Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse for their places in the team.
I’m not saying that Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is a bad player, he’s certainly very decent, but I just don’t think he’d be a good fit for West Ham.
If Moyes does decide to bring him in though, Flynn Downes will definitely be finished as a West Ham player.
