West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool recently.
Tim Steidten joined West Ham as our new DOF on July 1st, but recent reports claimed that Liverpool are eyeing up a move for him, and he’d find it hard to turn down the chance of moving to Anfield.
Hammers boss David Moyes was helped out massively by Steidten’s eye for a player and the German’s connections in the summer.
The signings of Edson Alvarez, Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos were all down to the 44-year-old former Bayer Leverkusen man, as was Kalvin Phillips as well apparently.
The West Ham fans have been hugely impressed by Steidten’s work so far at the London Stadium, so the thought of him leaving to link up with Liverpool is a really concerning one.
However, something that Tim said when speaking about the links with Liverpool should put the Hammers fans at ease…

The German has been speaking about all things football, and the recent report linking him with a move to Anfield to join Liverpool.
Steidten did offer a ray of light to the West Ham fans who are concerned that he might leave us, as quoted by Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg:
“I’ve heard that I am supposed to be on the list at Liverpool. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it’s an honour. But so far nobody from LFC has contacted me yet. I generally feel very comfortable at West Ham. I quickly realised how intense this league is. Accordingly, we signed the right players in the last transfer windows. The squad is strong, so we can achieve our goals. I am looking forward facing the next weeks and months until the end of the season. Of course we are already planing the next window. What happens to the future, we will see.“
The fact that Steidten insisted he is already planning for the next transfer window is a huge relief as far as I’m concerned.
If Liverpool do try to prise him away from the London Stadium, he may well find it very hard to turn them down. I reckon that Steidten has a lot of unfinished business at West Ham though.
The key for us will be for the owners and the manager to back the German when he brings his targets to the table.
As long as that happens, then I reckon West Ham should be able to keep Tim Steidten out of the clutches of Liverpool for at least one more year.
