Official West Ham United website has just dropped a really big Alphonse Areola hint.
Alphonse Areola joined West Ham on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021 and made his move to the London Stadium a permanent one the following year for around £8 million (The Athletic).

Areola has made just six Premier League appearances under David Moyes in a West Ham shirt (Transfermarkt). He has been our number one in all cup competitions though.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper started our Europa Conference League semi-final clash with AZ Alkmaar last week at the London Stadium but in truth, he was really poor. The Frenchman should have done so much better when he allowed Alkmaar to take the lead through a shot from 25 yards out.
Many Hammers fans have been calling for Areola to be dropped and Lukasz Fabianski to replace him on Thursday night out in Holland. It seems as though that will not happen though…

The French World Cup winner sat down for an exclusive interview with WHUFC.com this morning – one that focused purely on our second-leg Conference League clash with AZ Alkmaar.
Now obviously I could be wrong, but I don’t think that Areola would have been selected for that interview if Moyes was going to start Fabianski instead.

The club would surely have picked another player who was a shoo-in to start the game.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the former PSG man, and have always rated him. However, every time he has played for the Hammers this season, he has looked very shaky indeed.
I think that’s purely down to the fact that he hasn’t had a chance to get any rhythm going since moving to the London Stadium. The 30-year-old has rarely played back-to-back games and for a goalkeeper, that’s a difficult situation to be in.
If Alphonse Areola starts for West Ham on Thursday night, there will be plenty of Hammers fans surprised by the decision.
