Nonchalant Angelo Ogbonna comments are symbolic of everything that’s wrong with West Ham United.
West Ham lost 4-3 to Crystal Palace yesterday, and Angelo Ogbonna played the majority of the match after replacing the injured Kurt Zouma inside the first-half.

In truth, the scoreline flattered the Hammers – we were really poor and got all our three goals through set-pieces.
After losing to Liverpool in midweek and then Palace yesterday, West Ham are right back in the mix for relegation. Talk of a David Moyes renaissance seems to have been premature.
And the attitude of the players is slightly worrying in my opinion…

The Hammers defender spoke to reporters after the defeat to Palace, and responded when asked how hard the result was to take, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“We didn’t get anything in the end but battled hard. We went 1-0 up but they equalised and then we dropped a bit. But there are many games for us, and we try to bounce back.”
I feel like Ogbonna, just like Moyes and his teammates before him, has failed to grasp the seriousness of the situation that we’re currently.
There is almost an arrogance from the players and the manager that they believe they’re too good to go down.
There fact that Ogbonna said there are many games left proves just how nonchalant he and his teammates are.
Our next three matches are Manchester City away, Manchester United at home and Brentford away. We could easily exit that run with zero points.
And if that happens, then we will probably have to win one of our final two games against Leicester and Leeds in order to stay up. Would you be confident of Moyes’s men getting that done? I wouldn’t be. It’s time that the players realise just how serious our current situation is.
Let’s hope that we avoid relegation this season. However, whatever happens between now and the end of the campaign, big changes are needed from top to bottom at the club.
