West Ham United face the nightmare scenario of a hugely important Aston Villa game being sandwiched between the two clashes with AEK Larnaca in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
West Ham are flying high in the Europa Conference League but we’re in all sorts of trouble in the Premier League and we are currently sitting inside the relegation zone.

Hammers boss David Moyes is under real pressure, and rightly so, but his side’s impressive performances in Europe this season are probably what has kept him in the London Stadium hot-seat.
The Scot’s tactics and setup for games belong in a bygone era. He has been found out at Premier League level and his refusal to change and evolve is really holding us back as a football club.

West Ham have some must-win games coming up in the league over the next month or so, including clashes with Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Southampton
However, there could be a really big problem on the horizon for the Hammers…
West Ham face nightmare Europa Conference League scenario
The Hammers are expected to breeze through the two-legged tie with AEK Larnaca.
However, there are problems on the horizon. The two legs are scheduled for the 9th and 16th of March.
In between those games we face Aston Villa at home on Sunday March 12th. That game will be an absolute must win, I have no doubts about that.

The West Ham players will be in the air for more than nine hours for our Europa Conference League clash with AEK Larnaca.
The flight from London out to Ayia Napa, Cyprus is around 4hours 35 minute long. That really is a long way to be travelling in the air twice in the space of 24 hours, with such an important Premier League game just around the corner.
Now, depending on our results against Nottingham Forest and Brighton in the league between now and the Villa game, Moyes may well be forced into fielding a weakened team out in Cyprus, and leaving key players at home in England.
That really would be a nightmare scenario for us, and would drastically reduce our chances of qualifying through to the quarter-finals of the competition.
Despite our horrendous form this season, the Europa Conference League just feels like a trophy that West Ham can win. Considering the fact that we are 43 years without a trophy, these are opportunities that just have to be seized. However, the Hammers’ current Premier League struggles aren’t going to be conducive to succeeding in Europe.
A couple of wins against Forest and Brighton over the next week or so would change all of that in an instant. Let’s hope that Moyes and the players manage to turn things around domestically because if they don’t, we could be deprived of another successful European campaign as well.
