Emerson Palmieri has implored everyone at West Ham United to be patient with incoming new signing Lucas Paqueta.

The 25-year-old is believed to be closing in on a £50 million move to the London Stadium according to The Independent.

And when he does complete his move to West Ham, he will join his former Lyon teammate Emerson at the club.

The 28-year-old Italian joined the Hammers from Chelsea last week in a deal believed to be worth around £15 million.

The two players could reunite together on the pitch as early as Wednesday when West Ham take on Tottenham.

In order for that to happen, the Brazilian needs to be registered before 12pm tomorrow. Even if he is eligible though, David Moyes surely won’t just throw him in against Spurs. Patience is a virtue after all…

Emerson shares Lucas Paqueta warning for West Ham fans

The Italy international was speaking to The Athletic about the impending arrival of his formal teammate.

Emerson highlighted just how talented Paqueta is, whilst pleading with everyone to be patient with the South American star:

“He has the talent to be one of the top players. He’s still young and I believe we have to have patient with him, because sometimes youngsters have ups and downs. He’s a dedicated guy, someone who is obsessed with winning games and competing for titles. He has everything he needs to develop further. I think he has a brilliant future ahead of him.”

The 33-capped Brazil international is an attacking midfielder by trade but he can also operate on either wing if need be.

The silky left-footed ace has bagged 20 goals and 13 assists in 77 games for Lyon so far. Last season, he racked up 11 goals and seven assists in 44 appearances for the French side (Transfermarkt).

Paqueta possesses exceptional technique, impressive pace and has a real eye for goal and a killer pass.

He seems to have all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League and he has that nasty side on the football pitch that is so quintessentially South American as well.

We think that £50 million for Lucas Paqueta is great value for West Ham. He could end up being one of our best signings of the past couple of decades and will undoubtedly take us to another level entirely.

As Emerson says though, let’s give the Brazilian time to adjust to life at the London Stadium.
