In fairness, calling the starting XI last night ‘under-strength’ is a huge injustice.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

The likes of Alphonse Areola, Issa Diop, Craig Dawson and Ben Johnson all performed magnificently.

Noble put in a solid performance as well and rattled home our first penalty of the night – a brilliant way to respond after the debacle against Manchester United last month.

Mark Noble shares what David Moyes told him before penalty shootout

The 34-year-old West Ham man was first to step up for his team and he set the tone with a tremendous spot-kick.

Noble told WHUFC.com what Moyes said to him before any penalties were taken:

“The Gaffer said ‘Nobes, you’re first’, but I was taking the first one anyway, if I’m honest! I just couldn’t wait to take it and obviously Manchester United is always going to haunt me because when you miss in that degree, but to go away and win at Manchester United away on the Wednesday after that, then to score a penalty here in front of my family and my kids was special.”

Noble showed real courage dispatching his penalty like he did last night.

It can’t have been easy for him after his last attempt against Manchester United.
