Man City are not a threat yet but a West Ham source close to the owners has delivered an extremely worrying Lucas Paqueta update.
There has been an update on the situation surrounding West Ham talisman and Manchester City target Lucas Paqueta overnight.
Somewhat out of the blue, it emerged that Manchester City wanted West Ham star Paqueta towards the end of the summer window.
When it was reported he – like most footballers it must be said – also wanted the move, a deal of around £80-85m was reportedly close to being agreed between the Hammers and Man City.
But when allegations over illegal betting – which Paqueta vehemently denies – emerged, that move collapsed.

Paqueta has showed just why Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wanted him with his performances ever since.
West Ham’s Brazilian magnifico has officially been the best all round player in the Premier League so far this season.
Exiled from the Brazil national team, rumours have continued to abound over Paqueta’s West Ham future amid claims Man City still want him in the new year when they hope he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
Well Man City are not a threat yet but a West Ham source close to the owners has delivered an extremely worrying Paqueta update.
Sean Whetstone lists Hammers vice-chair Karren Brady and majority owner David Sullivan among his contacts.

And he says while Man City are not going to sign Paqueta anytime soon, the case against the West Ham star requires less evidence than you might need for a conviction in criminal proceedings.
“Reports from Brazil that Manchester City could revive interest in Hammer Lucas Paqueta seem to be wide of the mark,” Whetstone said on 6foot2.
“West Ham and the Brazilian Hammer are playing a waiting game and while there has been no updates recently, none are expected this year and the FA investigation is expected to run beyond the January transfer window.
“There is even a chance it could run into and beyond next summer into next season if previous investigations are a benchmark…
“The only concern from the Hammers and the Brazilian representatives is that the burden of proof is far less than a criminal court and circumstantial evidence could be used against the player unfairly.”
