A continental shift at West Ham could see David Moyes walk out regardless of any new deal offer claims top Sky Sports man Dharmesh Sheth.

Back-to-back wins has failed to take the spotlight off the future of David Moyes at West Ham beyond this season it seems.

Moyes has insisted he wants to stay in management – and preferably at West Ham – beyond his current deal, which expires at the end of the campaign.

Speculation continues to swirl over whether the Hammers will look to keep the Scot on.

Last week we spoke to the top source inside West Ham about Moyes’ situation.

And the contact emphatically denied Moyes will be sacked labelling such talk ‘rubbish’.

Continental shift at West Ham could see Moyes walk

In the main, West Ham do not tend to discuss manager contracts until the new year. So there is nothing necessarily unusual about the current state of play.

Reports, though, have claimed Moyes is unlikely to see his contract extended with technical director Tim Steidten already assessing replacements.

Now a man in the know at the Premier League’s broadcaster has given some insight on the situation.

And a continental shift at West Ham could see Moyes walk out regardless of a new deal offer claims top Sky Sports man Dharmesh Sheth.

Sheth has told Give Me Sport that West Ham are looking to follow a European model with Steidten sitting above a ‘head coach’ rather than a manager in the traditional English sense.

European model for Hammers says Sheth

“If he is not to remain at West Ham United, I would expect the next manager to come in to be more of the head coach, and probably less control over the recruitment than Moyes has enjoyed over the past few years,” Sheth said.

“But I think that that would be a particular kind of manager who would be used to working in that situation whereby they have a technical director who picks the players, and the main role for the boss is not managing, but rather is the coaching. So they would effectively be the head coach rather than the manager

“So I would expect that to be the next kind of appointment because we’ve said this many times, it’s so much easier to dismiss a manager rather than get rid of 10 players who are on long-term contracts.”

Difficult to argue with that logic and plan. But West Ham don’t want to become a Chelsea or Watford, hiring and firing at the drop of a hat.

Striking a balance will be key. But Steidten’s track record is encouraging with both transfers and managerial appointments as he was the man who hired Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen.
