Lucas Paqueta really has to step up, and he must realise that he’s playing for West Ham United, not Brazil.
West Ham signed the talented 25-year-old from Lyon in the summer for a club record £51 million fee (The Times).

Paqueta has shown glimpses of his quality for the Hammers, but if we’re being honest he is still yet to settle properly at the London Stadium.

Once he is fully settled into the side, as well as the other summer singings, then I think West Ham could be going places.
However, the Brazilian midfielder has to learn fast that the Premier League takes no prisoners…
Lucas Paqueta needs to pull his finger out for West Ham
The Hammers are in serious danger of getting relegated down to the Championship.
If that is indeed the case, then our big players need to step up and start producing the goods off their own backs…none more so than Paqueta.
The 25-year-old really needs to sharpen up with two things in particular – 1) the amount of time that he takes on the ball and 2) the weight of his passes.
Paqueta is far too casual in possession and gets disposed far too often. He has to remember that he’s playing for West Ham here, not Brazil.
When he’s playing for his country, nine times out of ten the opposition will sit off and allow Brazil to have the ball. That obviously isn’t the case with the Hammers.

The Brazilian needs to realise that he can’t hold on to the ball for longer than two or there seconds, and when he does move it on, he needs to greatly improve the way in which he rolls it into one of his teammates.
Usually the ex-Lyon ace fizzes the ball far to quickly into his teammates’ feet. He just seems to me like someone who isn’t entirely comfortable in the current setup. It’s obvious that Moyes doesn’t know how to use him correctly either.
Lucas Paqueta needs to get up to speed with the Premier League quickly, if he is to really make a big difference for West Ham.
I have full faith that he will do exactly that but he does need to learn from the errors he has made during his first six months in East London.
