Liverpool have been dealt a blow after a huge Tim Steidten announcement is made at West Ham overnight.

Ask any West Ham fan and they will tell you Tim Steidten is one of the best things to happen to their club for some time.

So there has been understandable concern for the Hammers after it emerged Liverpool want to lure away their German technical director.

Football Insider recently claimed Steidten is a leading contender to become Liverpool’s new director of football.

The report stated the Reds have identified West Ham’s recruitment chief as their prime target to replace the departing Jorg Schmadtke.

Liverpool want Steidten

In an effort to ease fears among West Ham fans Hammers News reached out to the most senior source inside the club about Liverpool’s interest in Steidten.

We exclusively reported that the top West Ham contact admitted it would ‘not be easy’ to stop Liverpool luring Steidten away.

There was further bad news for West Ham when Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg confirmed the Liverpool hierarchy do want Steidten at Anfield.

Worse still, The Daily Mail then reported Steidten would find Liverpool hard to turn down.

Liverpool dealt blow as a huge Steidten announcement made

But Liverpool have been dealt a blow as a huge Steidten announcement is made at West Ham.

Because Training Ground Guru has confirmed that Steidten has now made his first official appointment in the shape of Max Hahn.

And Steidten’s brother Moritz will also be confirmed as a West Ham scout soon.

There had been rumours the pair would be joining the Hammers setup. But that had gone quiet amid the links to Liverpool.

Hahn has now officially joined West Ham as their new Head of Technical Recruitment and Analysis according to TGG. And today (Wednesday) is his first official day in the role.

Setting down roots with Hammers

That surely means Steidten is setting down roots at West Ham, putting paid to any hopes Liverpool might have of luring him away this summer.

“Max Hahn has joined West Ham United as their new Head of Technical Recruitment and Analysis, as Technical Director Tim Steidten makes his mark behind the scenes,” TGG reports.

“Steidten joined the Hammers in July 2023 from Bayer Leverkusen and has set about upgrading their recruitment and analysis department. Hahn is only 28 and moves to West Ham from Werder Bremen, where he was Scouting and Analysis Co-Ordinator.

“His (Steidten) brother, Moritz Steidten, is joining West Ham as a scout.

“Meanwhile Dylan Curnell has been promoted from Head of Academy Analysis to First Team Recruitment Analyst.”

Great news for West Ham but Liverpool, it seems, will have to look elsewhere.
