Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui and West Ham have issued transfer updates amid reports of two deals being in the offing.

The collapse of another transfer deal has raised question marks and concern at West Ham.

The Hammers had agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for Noussair Mazraoui.

But it fell through over a £3m severance fee his agents wanted in order for the Moroccan right-back to join West Ham – as revealed first by Hammers News yesterday morning.

The Mazraoui deal was not the first to fall through for West Ham this summer.

Moves for Wesley Gassova and Fabricio Bruno hit the buffers after looking all but nailed on.

More window pain for Hammers

The Hammers have also missed out on a number of key targets including Youssef En-Nesyri and Jean-Clair Todibo.

West Ham’s last signing of Julen Lopetegui’s summer rebuild came three weeks ago today.

And today marks three weeks until the first game of the new Premier League season.

So the pressure is building on technical director Tim Steidten to get deals done.

Especially as West Ham plan to make another five signings before the window closes.

The Daily Mail claims West Ham may be ready to pay Villa’s full asking price for striker Jhon Duran.

That comes after West Ham exclusively told Hammers News yesterday that the deal is proving ‘hard work’.

The top spokesman inside the club said Aston Villa are still asking for too much for Duran.

It has also been reported that West Ham and Man United are back in talks over a cut-price deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The top spokesman inside West Ham has sent a six-word message to fans worrying about the lack of progress on transfers.

“We are trying in many directions,” West Ham told Hammers News.

Reports claim West Ham chasing two deals

Lopetegui himself admitted he wants and needs new signings, preferably sooner rather than later.

But he reassured supporters Steidten and the board are working hard to make that happen.

“Of course, we’re going to need new players,” Lopetegui said in a press conference before facing his old club Wolves on West Ham’s US tour to Florida.

“And I know the club and Tim are working hard to have the players we need to come as soon as possible to start the season.

“But it’s about the players who are here and putting the focus on these players because we are working with them.”

The summer transfer window closes in less than five weeks, on Friday August 30th.

That means West Ham have to make a signing a week in order to give Lopetegui the full 25-man squad he desires.
