West Ham have shared the cold truth about a deal collapse that’s handed a star to Man United, Hammers News can exclusively reveal.

West Ham fans went to bed last night dreaming of an exciting double signing edging ever closer.

But developments have seen West Ham’s plans turned upside down to send one of them into the arms of Manchester United.

It was claimed yesterday that West Ham’s had agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for Man United target Noussair Mazraoui.

Indeed reports even claimed the Hammers had managed to beat Manchester United – and the player’s former boss Erik ten Hag – to Mazraoui, who had also agreed personal terms.

But Hammers News exclusively revealed this morning that West Ham’s move for Mazraoui was on the rocks because Bayern were refusing to pay £3m the player and representatives were demanding as severance.

West Ham share cold truth about deal collapse

Our report from the top spokesman inside West Ham also revealed that had opened the door for the Red Devils to swoop and get a deal done for the marauding Moroccan right-back.

And so it has proved.

Some six hours later, Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reported the West Ham deal for 26-year-old Mazraoui is off and a move to Man United very much back on.

“Noussair Mazraoui deal with West Ham is OFF!” Plettenberg said.

“No agreement on agent‘s side (over £3m fee) has been reached. Despite the agreement between the clubs (15, 5 + 4) and on player‘s side West Ham now have left the negotiations.

“Manchester United now pushing to sign Mazraoui. Advanced talks.”

Star handed to Man United on silver platter

Now West Ham have shared the cold truth about the deal collapse that’s handed the star to Man United.

The top spokesman close to the Hammers board has told Hammers News the deal became far too expensive against the backdrop of restrictive PSR rules.

“Yes, the deal for Mazraoui has fallen through,” the West Ham spokesman exclusively told Hammers News.

“It all got too expensive and the new rules regarding wages/agents fees – including amortisation of transfer fee – not exceeding 85% of turnover are very tough.”

Man United clearly have a vastly superior income than most clubs in world football let alone West Ham.

The Deloitte Money League 2024 shows Man United were the fifth highest revenue generating football club in world football with £629m.

Hammers admit PSR is proving restrictive

That is some three times more than 18th placed West Ham’s £232m.

So getting deals done amid the PSR limitations mentioned is far easier.

Expect Manchester United to conclude the deal quickly now, which will only serve to anger Hammers fans further still.

Where to next for West Ham, though.

Tomorrow marks three weeks since the club signed Max Kilman for £40m from Wolves.

The centre-back – who was also linked with Man United at one stage – was West Ham’s third signing of a summer window in which eight new arrivals are being targeted.

In terms of a new right-back, West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui and technical director Tim Steidten may now go back to the drawing board with a move for Kyle Walker-Peters.

If Mazraoui is a big hit at Old Trafford next season, that will really sting for the Hammers hierarchy.
