David Moyes made a brilliant tactical tweak that ended up playing a crucial role in West Ham United’s win over Manchester United today.

Joe Cole was watching the West Ham vs Manchester United Premier League clash from the sidelines and noticed David Moyes tactical tweak just before we went 1-0 up.

The Hammers put in a really poor performance during the first-half, and the second-half began very much in the same vein.

Jarrod Bowen began the game as a centre-forward – a position where Moyes believes the 27-year-old will end up playing permanently according to Mark Noble.

Lucas Paqueta was out wide on the left whilst Mohammed Kudus played on the right. That all changed during the final 20 minutes or so though, when Paqueta moved into the ‘false nine’ role, with Bowen shifting out to the right and Kudus moving to the left.

Wow, what a turnaround it was from West Ham, and Moyes deserves huge credit for that…

Joe Cole praises David Moyes tactical tweak

The former Hammer was a guest on TNT Sports this afternoon for the clash with Manchester United.

And Cole told TNT Sports how impressed he was by the Moyes tactical tweak (December 23rd, 2:14pm):

“Fantastic from David Moyes’ perspective, he done a little tweak I noticed. Paqueta come in off the left hand side and played that false nine role. Straight away it changed the game because he was able to hold the ball up with his strength. It allowed Kudus to come out on the left, Bowen on the right, and from the Man United perspective, they felt they then needed to push further up which left the space in behind.”

Cole is spot on, the change from Moyes completely turned the game on its head.

The Man United defenders didn’t know which player they were supposed to be picking up, and it caused them all sorts of problems.

We were more than deserving of our 2-0 win against Manchester United today.

And we have all got to praise David Moyes to the hilt for the tactical tweak that he made late on in the game.
