A Jesse Lingard decision has finally been made after he spent a month training with West Ham United.

West Ham were believed to be very close to offering a short-term deal to Jesse Lingard, after he was desperately trying to prove his fitness to Hammers boss David Moyes.

The West Ham manager recently admitted that the 30-year-old was improving his fitness levels ahead of a potential deal with the East London outfit.

The 30-year-old is closing in on joining Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq according to a report from 90 Min.

So it seems like that long drawn out saga has finally been put to bed., thankfully. Those who desperately wanted him to re-sign for the club were failing to realise that he just wouldn’t have been the same player who was so successful with us three seasons ago.

I think it’s good news that Lingard won’t be signing for the Hammers – we didn’t need him anyway in my opinion.

The 30-year-old certainly wouldn’t have had the same hunger or motivation that he had during his loan spell at the London Stadium in the 2020/21 season.

David Moyes is well covered in the attacking department this season and even when we lose some of our players for AFCON in the winter, some of the Hammers’ youngsters will have the opportunity to step up.

Had the Scot signed Jesse, he would have blocked the path to the first-team for players like Callum Marshall and Divin Mubama.

West Ham have dodged a massive bullet by not signing Jesse Lingard as far as I’m concerned. He is a mercenary who has totally lost focus when it comes to football.
