Jeff Stelling makes David Moyes statue prediction

talkSPORT host Jeff Stelling has made a prediction about West Ham United manager David Moyes.

David Moyes has taken West Ham on to another level since he arrived at the London Stadium in December 2019, and Jeff Stelling is clearly a very big fan of the Scot.

Just last week, Stelling had a pop at a caller who suggested that we should be playing much better football with the players that we have.

The Hammers are currently sitting in seventh spot in the Premier League table, just two points adrift of sixth placed Manchester United.

For those outside looking in, it is probably hard to see why are so disgruntled as a fanbase. However, there are very obvious issues that have seeped into the side this season.

Moyes has some of the best players in the league amongst his squad right now, including the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, yet he still insists on a ‘safety first’ game-plan in 90% of the matches that we play.

The West Ham fans have never appreciated it when our side rolls over and allows the opposition to have their way with us. And that’s a point that Stelling fails to grasp it seems…

Jeff Stelling makes David Moyes statue prediction

Stelling is clearly very much in the ‘Moyes in’ camp! I mean, he’s really just looking for interaction and clicks, but the sentiment remains the same.

And he highlighted how Moyes deserves a statue built for him outside the London Stadium, when speaking on talkSPORT yesterday (March 5th, 9:50am)

“If they win the Europa League, they’ll build a statue [of Moyes] won’t they? You’re seventh in the table, you’re at home to Burnley next weekend. You’ve got Freiburg who have only won once this year in the Bundesliga in the Europa League. You lot are a hard lot to please. I think West Ham fans genuinely speaking, they’re entrenched in their opinions and they’re not going to change their mind come what may. As far as David Moyes is concerned all he can do is keep winning games and I’m sure he listens to them all with a rye smile on his face.”

It’s funny how outspoken Stelling has become since moving to talkSPORT isn’t it? It’s almost like his comments are designed to cause controversy, division amongst the fans and to generate clicks and interaction.

Fair play to them, they have a very good model and it works. However, that doesn’t mean that we as fans are not allowed to respond and give our opinions on the matter.

As West Ham fans, we are not demanding that our side finishes inside the top four, nor are we demanding any kind of sustained success. We just want to see our side have a go at the opposition every single week, and play some positive front foot, attacking football.

Since when has it become taboo to demand an attractive brand of football at West Ham? Why is it allowed at clubs like Tottenham and Aston Villa, but not at the London Stadium? There is a very strange agenda against us fans in the media.

Jeff Stelling was at it once again on talkSPORT yesterday with his cringe inducing support of David Moyes. Listen, I respect the Scot for everything he has done at the London Stadium, but it’s clear to see that he has taken us as far as he can.

The 60-year-old has reached his ceiling at the London Stadium, and asking for a younger, hungrier and more forward-thinking manager is not the crime that Stelling and his mates would have you believe it is.
