Newcastle boss Eddie Howe reportedly recently had a bid for the 21-year-old Hammer rejected. Losing him to the Toon would be a major blow for West Ham.

Calciomercato reckon that the Toon have held talks with the Holland international’s agent about a potential move to St James’ Park in the January transfer window.

The Inter ace has everything you would look for in a right-back, with his pace and power making him ideally suited to the Premier League.

He is an all-action defender with energy, stamina and athleticism in abundance. Dumfries has been described as a ‘real powerhouse’ by the Northern Scot. He’s also been labelled as ‘explosive’ by the Chronicle.

The Dutchman will be a fabulous addition for Newcastle, but at the same time it will be really good news for the Hammers.

Hopefully Dumfries joins the Magpies and as a result, Ashby remains at the London Stadium.

And all that will need to be done then is for West Ham to tie him down to a new long-term deal. That will be easier said than done of course. However, Newcastle signing Denzel Dumfries will make our task a whole lot easier.
