Graham Potter will take his West Ham United side to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

West Ham will have their work cut-out if they are to leave Liverpool with a positive result, and Graham Potter will need Niclas Fullkrug and the rest of his teammates to be firing on all cylinders.

The German has looked like a real difference-maker for the Hammers since returning to the side.

Potter has already suggested that Niclas Fullkrug provides West Ham with the chance to play a different system.

It’s just such a shame that he’s spent the majority of the season on the sidelines through injury.

And that’s what makes Potter’s latest comments about the Germany international so concerning.

The Hammers will have to be at their very best to get a result against the Reds at Anfield on Sunday.

If West Ham are to hurt Liverpool, Potter will need to set up so that his players are able to cause them problems.

One player will be key to the Hammers’ hopes – Fullkrug.

However, Potter shared a slightly worrying update on the big German when speaking to reporters on Friday, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

There aren’t any major issues – it’ll be a similar squad.

Fullkrug – we’re just making sure he’s OK after the weekend. He’s trained today so hopefully there’s no reaction and he’ll be in the squad.

Considering the injuries sustained by Fullkrug this season, those comments from Potter sound ominous to say the least.

Are Barcelona really in for Niclas Fullkrug?

The 32-year-old Hammers striker is a very good player.

He has looked the part since returning from injury recently.

However, recent rumours circulating have suggested that he could leave the club this summer to join Barcelona.

Whilst Fullkrug is a very capable front-man, a move to Barca would be a major shock wouldn’t it?

Well, Fullkrug’s fellow countryman Marc-Andre ter Stegen wants him at the Camp Nou:

“Jamal Musiala, of course, and Florian Wirtz is also amazing, but I’d also like to have ‘Fülle’ (Füllkrug).

“Because he’s simply a great guy in the dressing room and a killer in front of goal. Fülle is a funny guy; we had some great team nights. He’s someone you can have a great conversation with and a lot of fun with.”

It’s doubtful that Niclas Fullkrug will join Barcelona from West Ham this summer. Graham Potter should be doing everything in his power to keep him at the club.
