Major Mohammed Kudus twist could throw a real spanner in the works for West Ham

Mohammed Kudus has been seriously underwhelming for West Ham United this season.

West Ham signed Mohammed Kudus from Ajax in the summer of 2023, and he enjoyed a fabulous debut campaign in England.

However, things have turned sour for the Ghanaian this season.

The 24-year-old’s form has fallen off a cliff, with just three goals and two assists to his name in the Premier League this term. However, that hasn’t stopped mega-rich clubs from Saudi Arabia eyeing a move to prise Mohammed Kudus away from West Ham this summer.

As good as the former Ajax man is on his day, his form this season has been a major concern.

The good news is that West Ham should still make a massive profit from the potential Kudus sale.

However, a real spanner has just been thrown into the works it seems.

Mohammed Kudus twist could be a problem for West Ham

Whatever way you look at it, Graham Potter desperately needs to raise some cash this summer in order to fund the much-needed rebuild.

Kudus seems like a prime candidate to be sold.

Could it be a real possibility that the 24-year-old actually remains at the London Stadium though?

It seems like Potter certainly wants to keep the Ghana international at the club.

According to a report from The Athletic, Kudus remains very much key to Potter’s plans moving forward.

That’s a big twist from a recent claim that suggested Mohammed Kudus will almost certainly leave West Ham in a big money deal this summer.

If Kudus does stay at West Ham, it’s hard to see where the funds needed for the rebuild are coming from.

West Ham have to sell Mohammed Kudus

There’s no denying that Kudus is an immense talent.

However, his lack of consistency and the big drop-off in form he has displayed this season are big concerns.

Selling Mohammed Kudus should be a priority for West Ham this summer – even if they are unable to obtain his full release clause.

£50 or £60 million for the Ghanaian should serve the Hammers really well in the summer transfer window.

Whether Potter blocks a potential sale remains to be seen though.
