French-speaking West Ham stars reacted to what David Moyes did and it speaks volumes as Maxwel Cornet made the manager look silly.

How do you solve a problem like Maxwel Cornet at West Ham? Listen to West Ham fans it seems.

When it comes to David Moyes and certain players there are a number of conspiracy theories floating around among some supporters.

Every manager has their favourites and Moyes will be no different at West Ham.

On the flip side there will always be players with whom a manager – Moyes or otherwise – does not necessarily click.

Said Benrahma was seen to have been treated harshly by Moyes during his time at West Ham.

But now many are of the opinion that the Algerian is getting chances he doesn’t deserve over other Hammers stars such as Cornet – another Moyes is said – by some – to “have it in for”.

The 27-year-old arrived in a £17m deal from Burnley nearly 18 months ago. And he has made just two Premier League starts since.

Indeed Cornet has just one solitary minute in the league for West Ham this season.

So it’s easy to see why there are conspiracy theories surrounding the Ivory Coast international. Especially given he can play up front and Michail Antonio has been woefully out of form for the last three months.

I wrote here on Hammers News last week that Cornet’s time could finally be nigh at West Ham with injuries and the fact he is unlikely to go to AFCON.

When news filtered through that Antonio, Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez were not available for the Europa League clash in Serbia many believed Cornet would get his chance.

West Ham fans have been banging the drum for the former Lyon man but it has fallen on deaf ears with the manager.

When Cornet did get on the pitch against Backa Topola he made the difference at the death.

French-speaking West Ham stars reacted to what Moyes did and it speaks volumes as Cornet makes the manager look silly.

Benrahma’s end product in the game left a lot to be desired – an all too familiar tale. And Pablo Fornals did next to nothing over on the right hand side.

Cornet instantly injected some pace and verve into West Ham’s attack. And his excellent cross for Tomas Soucek to score the winner had supporters saying ‘I told you so’ to Moyes.

West Ham’s official website revealed Cornet is a popular member of the squad especially among his many French-speaking teammates.

And Cornet states they were delighted for him to get game time and make a difference during his long-awaited chance.

“They were happy for me because it’s been a while that I didn’t play, but I still keep my confidence in training to be ready at the right moment like tonight, so I’ll keep going and keep pushing,” Cornwt said.

“Of course, I can do more with some minutes in the legs, but we just keep building. When the manager calls me to go on the pitch, I just need to be ready and make the difference for the lads and for the team and that’s why I’m here and I work.”

Pace is a huge asset in the modern game and Cornet has bags of it.

He has been criminally under-used by Moyes – whether as a starter or impact sub. So many games have been crying out for a player like Cornet to come on and give the opposition something different to think about.

But he has been left on the bench far too often. That must change now he has proved to Moyes he can contribute in key moments.

He must be ahead of Benrahma and Fornals in the pecking order after his midweek showing, it’s as simple as that.
