Hammers boss David Moyes has reminded the club’s fans West Ham were ‘nowhere near Europe’ when he came to east London.
With no wins in 2024 so far and a tough game against Arsenal this weekend, David Moyes is seeing his West Ham future called into question once again.
The Hammers are winless in six games since the turn of the year.
And many West Ham fans remain unhappy with Moyes’ style of play and risk averse approach.
Speculation has been rife over Moyes’ future at West Ham.

As debate rages over the manager, he fires a timely reminder
Ahead of games against Man United and Arsenal, the Scot said talks to extend his contract are “well down the line” and he expects it to be sorted soon.
The top source inside the West Ham boardroom has since confirmed to Hammers News Moyes will be handed a new deal ‘subject to terms’.
Debate has been raging about Moyes among West Ham fans on social media and fan forums.
The manager will be all too aware. And now he has taken the opportunity to remind Hammers supporters how far the club has come under him in the last four years.
‘West Ham were nowhere near Europe when I came here’ Moyes says in a new interview.

Moyes: ‘West Ham were nowhere near Europe when I came’
“Probably not (did I think I’d make such an impact at West Ham),” Moyes said on the club’s YouTube channel.
“I think I’d be lying if I said ‘Yea I think I’m going to do this’ because, let’s be fair, West Ham were nowhere near Europe.
“Nowhere near even qualifying in any of the situations.
“So it’s easy to say it now it’s happened, the year we were in Covid and we were doing so well and we finished sixth in the league which was a brilliant achievement for the team.
“That first year in Europe we were all so excited by it, we couldn’t wait for the draw, we found ourselves getting to a semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt. And really I think that year was really the most exciting games for me because you know we were away in Lyon, we were in Seville and those trips were big clubs, big games for the supporters to see.
“And obviously the games at the stadium were immense, they really were. I’ll remember that a lot (from my time at West Ham). But obviously everything goes behind Prague!”
