West Ham United manager David Moyes was particularly impressed with the performance of one of his players against Brentford last night.
West Ham desperately needed all three points against Brentford, and David Moyes will be waking up this morning a very relieved man.
That’s because recent reports had claimed that the Scot’s job was on the line, and bad results against the Bees and Everton next week could have seen him moved on from the London Stadium.
Things are all of a sudden looking up for West Ham again now. We’re sitting in eight spot in the Premier League table, level on points with seventh placed Brighton and only five adrift of sixth placed Manchester United.
The victory over Brentford was in no small part down to the brilliant Jarrod Bowen, with the 27-year-old bagging a hat-trick on the night.
And Moyes has offered the former Hull City man huge words of praise for his display…

The Hammers boss addressed the media after the clash with the Bees at the London Stadium last night.
And Moyes was very complimentary indeed of Jarrod Bowen, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“I’m thrilled for Jarrod [Bowen]. He’s not had that many chances in the last few games, and he’s maybe not been at his best. He had an ankle injury last month and I think that hindered him, but he’s beginning to find his way again now. He’s always going to love it when Lucas [Paquetá] and Mo [Kudus] are playing on either side of him, because he’s always going to get opportunities to score. I think anyone who’s watched a lot of us this season will have been excited to see Paquetá back tonight, and linking up with Emerson. Their understanding is so good, and I think Paquetá’s return made a big difference to the team. Jarrod’s goals – and Emerson’s – were brilliant tonight, and he finished them well. There were lots of good things overall tonight, but Jarrod’s performance was brilliant and I’m delighted for him.”
Bowen now has 17 goals and five assists in 32 games in all competitions for West Ham this season (Transfermarkt).
The challenge for Jarrod now will be to keep up that good form and carry it on into the summer, so it’s impossible for Gareth Southgate to leave him out of his squad for the Euros.
David Moyes will be very grateful for Bowen’s excellent display for West Ham against Brentford last night. It may well have saved him his job.
