David Moyes has just dropped a major hint that he could be prepared to play Mohammed Kudus in a completely different position for West Ham United.

West Ham manager David Moyes brought Mohammed Kudus to the London Stadium from Ajax in the summer for around £38 million (Sky Sports).

However, Moyes has eased the Hammers ace into action slowly, with it still being unclear where his best position actually is, although he did recently insist that he’s most comfortable when deployed in the number 10 role.

Kudus, 23, has shown us glimpses of what he’s capable of with moments of outstanding skill and precocious pace and power.

He was the only one who deserved to walk off the pitch with his head held high on Sunday after our 1-0 defeat to Everton.

During that game he played centrally, just behind Michail Antonio, but where does Moyes see him operating in the future for West Ham?

David Moyes hints that Mohammed Kudus could play in a brand new position for West Ham

The Scot addressed the media yesterday, ahead of our Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal tonight.

And the Scot responded when asked what position he sees Kudus playing for the Hammers, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“It takes a few months to adapt to the Premier League, whether a player is doing well or doing badly, but I think Mo has settled in quite well. He’s come off the bench and helped us, and he started against Everton and done well. We see him as a big player for us. He’s young and we’re not pushing too hard, expecting too much too soon. We want him to improve and come along at his own speed. I think Mo could be a midfield player, or can play off the right for us, and he even played centre forward for Ajax as well. I think all those positions are really important for us because we know he can give us some variation and make it harder for other teams to figure out how we’re going to play as well.”

Described as ‘exceptional’ by Hammers coach John Heitinga (VoetbalPrimeur), Kudus really does have everything needed to succeed in the Premier League.

Whether Moyes ever plays him as a centre-forward remains to be seen but personally, I see him at his best when playing in the number 10 role.

His guile, creativity and technical ability will make a huge difference for us in and around the penalty area, but his pace and power definitely means that he could be used up front as well, if need be.

It will be really interesting to see how he develops at the London Stadium over the next few years. Let’s just hope that David Moyes manages to get the best out of Mohammed Kudus, regardless of what position he decides to play him in.
