David Moyes has confirmed a new Lucas Paqueta injury fear ahead of West Ham’s crucial clash with Aston Villa.
West Ham recorded a 2-0 win at AEK Larnaca in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night to put one foot in the quarter-finals.
One eye was already on this Sunday’s huge Premier League match against Aston Villa as West Ham fight for survival.
So the last thing Moyes and West Ham needed ahead of that game was more injuries.
But that’s what they’ve got it seems as the Larnaca game comes at a cost.
Michail Antonio and Flynn Downes both picked up injuries which may make them doubts for Sunday’s crunch game against Villa.
And Moyes has confirmed a new Paqueta injury fear ahead of West Ham’s crucial clash with Aston Villa.
The £51m Brazilian midfielder came on in the second half and should have made it 3-0 when he was put through on goal by Maxwel Cornet.
But his shot went straight at the goalkeeper.
Moyes revealed after the game that Paqueta has suffered a calf injury making that run. And while the Scot ‘hopes’ he will be okay, it makes the midfielder a possible doubt for the Villa clash.

“Paqueta also felt his calf when he went through on goal but hopefully he’ll be OK,” Moyes told West Ham’s website after the game.

West Ham dearly need all their key players fit and available for their last 13 Prem games, starting with Aston Villa.
The Hammers must pick up at least five wins to have a chance of staying up.
Aston Villa have their own injury issues ahead of the match.
Unai Emery will be without one of his key midfielders and four others for the trip to the London Stadium this Sunday afternoon.
West Ham now have 48 hours to get everyone recovered for another massive game.
