Comments made by David Moyes have angered the West Ham owners claims a board source in the wake of the defeat to Fulham.

There may have been mitigating circumstances but even David Moyes labelled West Ham’s 5-0 defeat at Fulham ’embarrassing’.

The Scot claims sickness has been sweeping through the Hammers camp.

He also blamed fatigue for performance. But as pointed out on Hammers News, the cold hard truth is the tiredness factor has been self-inflicted.

Moyes comments have angered owners

Despite Moyes’ calls for understanding, a top source inside West Ham has stated the Hammers hierarchy were not happy at the manner of the defeat.

And they have issued a warning ahead of the two home games against Freiburg and Wolves this week.

Before the game at Fulham the door to the top six was left wide open for West Ham.

It was shut on West Ham’s fingers following the shocking loss, though.

To add to the frustration of fans, Tottenham’s win over Newcastle meant the Hammers would have stayed in the top six until at least next weekend too.

Scot played down top six chances

Many West Ham fans were disappointed ahead of the Fulham game when Moyes told reporters that he doesn’t believe West Ham have the squad to get in the top six this season.

West Ham’s failure to go into the top six ended up adding weight to that claim from the manager.

But it seems supporters were not the only ones the Scot’s statement irritated.

Because comments made by Moyes have angered the West Ham owners claims a board source.

Unambitious or realistic

According to a top source inside West Ham speaking to Claret and Hugh, the board were not happy with Moyes’ unambitious declaration about the top six.

“The manager admitting he isn’t sure the club can make an impression on the top six has alarmed a few after the money that has been spent on new arrivals,” Claret and Hugh state.

“And (the) defeat has raised the old fears about his future with the powers that be still looking closely at the situation.”

Some would said Moyes’ comments lack ambition. Others might defend the manager by labelling them realistic.

But sometimes players want to hear the manager telling people what they can achieve rather than constantly playing things down.

If you keep telling your own players they’re not good enough then they’ll eventually start believing it.

James Ward-Prowse took a clear swipe at Moyes for a lack of belief in his players following the win over Spurs.
