Confident West Ham star Joseph Anang says what he can do puts him on another level to other players in the same position.
There was a potential scenario in the last few weeks where cub goalkeeper Joseph Anang could have found himself starting in the Premier League for West Ham.
With Alphonse Areola injured and illness sweeping through the Hammers camp, Anang was next in line for the keeper’s jersey had anything happened to Lukasz Fabianski.
It was a fact that concerned many West Ham fans given 23-year-old Anang’s lack of top level first team experience.

Anang says what he can do puts him on another level
But supporters need not be worried should that situation arise in the future it seems.
Because confident West Ham star Anang says what he can do puts him on another level to other players.
The Ghanaian is known to be an excellent shot stopper, something he proudly trumpets in a lengthy interview on West Ham’s official website.
But he also claims to boast very important talent in the modern game which fans may not be aware of.

Sweet feet
Anang says his ability with his feet and distribution put him on a different level to other goalkeepers.
“As a goalkeeper, I think my shot-stopping is good,” Anang said when describing his attributes.
“But my distribution puts me on a different level, which is so important in football these days.”
He’s not wrong. Distribution and the ability to play is essential in a football world full of Pep Guardiola disciples.
It’s so difficult to blood young goalkeepers nowadays, though. And with vastly experience duo Fabianski and Areola – a World Cup winner – ahead of him, Anang likely faces a long wait for that to become a reality.

Great to see such self-belief
If we’re being brutally frank, we may never get to see Anang’s ball skills in the first team at West Ham.
But how great is it to see such self-belief and confidence from one of our academy graduates?
Anang has had a taste of league football in England during a loan spell with Stevenage. And although it quickly turned sour, he says he has used it as fuel to get better.
“It was a great experience to play League football with Stevenage,” Anang adds.
“I started there as number one and played ten or 12 games, but for some reason my performance level just dropped and a new gaffer came in and just brought his own ‘keeper, so I came back to West Ham.
“Being dropped wasn’t a good thing and it was very hard mentally, but I took it as a big motivation and didn’t let it get me down. I just kept going.”
