Gary Lineker has taken to X – formerly known as Twitter – to post a tweet about West Ham United club captain Kurt Zouma.

Kurt Zouma was named as the new West Ham captain earlier this season, after Declan Rice left the London Stadium to join Arsenal, and Gary Lineker has brought up extremely old news in response to that.

The 28-year-old has been incredible for the Hammers this season, and could be rewarded with a new long-term contract as a result.

David Moyes obviously trusts Zouma as a real leader and a role model, hence the decision to make him the new club captain.

However, some people criticised Moyes for that, after the infamous cat-kicking incident back in February 2022.

That’s old news now though. Zouma was punished for his actions – rightly so – and has learned from his mistakes.

That said, it seems as though there are certain people who will never let the 28-year-old forget what he did 20 months ago…

‘Cat pain’: Gary Lineker posts Kurt Zouma tweet on X

In spite of Zouma and West Ham moving on, Lineker brought it all up again on X today, albeit with a poor attempt at a joke.

I just have a feeling that the centre-back will never be allowed to actually move on from the cat kicking scandal.

Lineker tweeted:

It’s a pretty poor joke to be fair isn’t it!?

Aside from that, surely everyone needs to move on now. Sure, it was a terrible thing that the Frenchman did, and I’m not condoning it one little bit.

However, he’s a human being and he made a mistake – one that he has undoubtedly learned from.

Gary Lineker made a light-hearted attempt at a joke at the expense of Kurt Zouma, but it was a really poor one as far as I’m concerned.
