Blades captain Anel Ahmedhodzic has goaded West Ham and Premier League officials on social media after the VAR controversy.
Things seem to be going from bad to worse for West Ham as the dismal start to 2024 continued at Sheffield United.
No wins in January so far, out of the FA Cup to a mid-table Championship team, a spate of injuries to – and unavailability of – key players, no new signings and now referee and VAR ineptitude to add West Ham’s misery.
The latter being much to the delight of Sheffield United.

VAR-cical
Premier League officiating and the use of video technology in the so-called best league in the world takes centre stage for all the wrong reasons nearly every weekend.
And that was the case yet again in West Ham’s 2-2 draw at Sheffield United.
Fans and pundits have been left utterly bemused by the award of a last gasp penalty to Sheffield United following a phantom foul on striker Ollie McBurnie which left Alphonse Areola with a blood nose and lip.
To make matters worse, West Ham saw a stonewall penalty on Jarrod Bowen ignored from the resulting kick-off after he was wrestled to the ground by Anel Ahmedhodzic, denying him a clear header at goal.

Blades captain goads West Ham and officials
Hammers boss David Moyes, usually reserved on such matters, savaged the performance of the officials after the game.
Blades boss Chris Wilder, rather predictably, said he felt the referee made the right calls.
Now Sheffield United’s skipper has poured salt into a gaping wound in a post which will embarrass the Premier League and its officials.
Blades captain Ahmedhodzic has goaded West Ham and the officials on social media after the controversy.

Ahmedhodzic’s social media jibe
Ahmedhodzic has posted a picture of him wrestling Hammers star Bowen to the ground on his Instagram Stories accompanied by wrestling commentary.
If that’s not an admission of guilt then what is. The Sheffield United defender is literally laughing at West Ham and the Premier League.
Howard Webb and the PGMOL should be embarrassed.
No doubt West Ham will get a meaningless apology in the coming days or weeks.
