Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has just made an embarrassingly deluded claim about West Ham United.

West Ham held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium nine days ago, after an incredible turnaround saw the home side come back from two goals down, and Mikel Arteta would have been gutted that his side failed to win.

So the draw was a real turning point for both sides, whatever our respective fates end up being.

I, like every other West Ham fan, was delighted with the point against Arsenal – we easily could have gone on to win the game in the end, and our players were more than deserving of the draw.

However, Arteta clearly didn’t see it that way…

The Gunners manager addressed the media during his pre-match press conference thus afternoon.

Arteta has claimed that his Arsenal side ‘deserved to beat West Ham without a question of a doubt’, when speaking during his press conference this afternoon (Football.London).

Seriously, he clearly couldn’t have been watching the same game as us could he?

West Ham dominated the contest after the half an hour mark. Arsenal never looked like scoring after we scored the penalty and we caused them untold problems with Michail Antonio running into the channels and Lucas Paqueta and Declan Rice bossing Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.

Surely even the most ardent of Arsenal fans will agree that a draw was a fair result at the very least?

Behind closed doors, I can imagine that the Spaniard would have given his players a rollicking. And let’s have it right – Arteta actually admitted immediately after the game that his side ‘stopped playing’ after going 2-0 up (The Guardian).

Mikel Arteta’s comments on West Ham today were really disrespectful. He clearly still has a lot to learn.
