Angelo Ogbonna makes ‘toxic’ West Ham United claim as our terrible Premier League season continues.
West Ham are in real trouble at the moment and are sitting just three points clear of the relegation zone.
Angelo Ogbonna was here when the Hammers were last in this position in the 2019/20 season, and knows all about just how toxic things can get at the London Stadium.
It could actually be argued that things are even worse now because we don’t have the new manager bounce that we did at the end of 2019.
David Moyes has worked wonders since returning to the Hammers, or at least he did for a couple of years. Things have turned sour over the past few months and that negativity has spread around the fans, and the team, like wildfire…
Angelo Ogbonna makes toxic West Ham claim
The Italian has spoken to the Daily Mail about the Hammers’ terrible season so far.
And Ogbonna highlighted how he is more than used to this kind of toxicity:
“I remember three years ago at this moment, the atmosphere was even more toxic. But even though we are in kind of the same situation, the atmosphere is more positive than it was.”
The fact that the 34-year-old said, ‘even more toxic’ proves that there is a toxic atmosphere at the London Stadium at the moment.
To be fair though, it wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to see that there are big problems at West Ham at the moment, both on and off the pitch.
West Ham have absolutely no style of play, no identity and the players seem to lack the commitment and fight needed for a relegation battle.
However, Angelo Ogbonna certainly isn’t one of those, and hopefully his experience and leadership will be a huge help for us between now and the end of the season.
What happens over the next four or five weeks, it’s clear that Moyes is not the man to take us forward anymore.
