Ally McCoist makes very bold David Moyes claim

Ally McCoist has suggest that should West Ham finish fourth in the Premier League table, David Moyes should handed the Manager of the Season award.

Moyes has performed a truly remarkable job since taking over at the London Stadium for the second time back in December 2019.

When the Scot took over 27 months ago, the Hammers were teetering on the brink of relegation down to the Championship.

However, the turnaround at West Ham has been truly astounding over the past couple of years.

The Hammers finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season and subsequently qualified for the Europa League.

We are sitting in sixth place again this season, just three points adrift of fourth placed Arsenal with nine games still to go. And we have a Europa League last 16 tie against Sevilla to play tonight. Things are looking very bright indeed at the London Stadium.

Ally McCoist makes very bold David Moyes claim

If the Hammers manage to qualify for the Champions League this season, it would be a truly unbelievable achievement by Moyes, his staff and the players.

Ally McCoist spoke to talkSPORT this morning and suggested that Moyes should be handed the Manager of the Season gong if West Ham do in fact win the race for the top four:

“I’ll tell you right now, manager of the year, if West Ham finish fourth. You’d have to give it to Moyes. I tell you, if West Ham finish fourth Moyes must get the award.”

That’s quite the claim from McCoist considering the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel are all doing magnificent jobs in their respective roles at Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.

We agree with the talkSPORT pundit though. Considering what Moyes has to work with, finishing inside the top four would be a sensational achievement for West Ham.

Let’s hope that the players produce the goods between now and the end of the season. And if we do finish in fourth spot in the Premier League table, Moyes will deserve a Knighthood, let along the Manager of the Season award!
