£8 million West Ham ace’s magical 84th minute moment v Anderlecht was out of this world

Alphonse Areola produced an absolute wonder save for West Ham United against Anderlecht in the Europa Conference League last night.

In fact, it might just have been better than his phenomenal stop against Sevilla in the Europa League round of 16 last season.

And more importantly, it must show David Moyes that the 29-year-old needs to be starting week in, week out in the Premier League. There is absolutely no way that Lukasz Fabianski would have made that save last night.

Moyes brought Areola to West Ham for around £8 million in the summer, after he spent the previous campaign on loan at the London Stadium.

The Scot has chosen to ease him into action once again, however, keeping Fabianski as his main number one goalkeeper in the league.

This absolutely has to change now. There is absolutely no reason why Areola should not be between the sticks for us in every single Premier League game. We’re so much more of a better team defensively when the plays…

The 6ft 5in stopper is one of the best around, as far as reflexes and shot-stopping are concerned.

The £8 million that the Hammers paid for Areola is an unbelievable bargain in my opinion.

The 29-year-old is so much better than Fabianski with the ball at his feet and his passing ability is on another level to the Pole’s.

The French World Cup winner’s best asset, however, is his shot-stopping, especially when he has to use his reflexes to save close-range strikes.

Areola proved his quality for West Ham last season with a truly unbelievable save from Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

And we think he went one better last night with an exceptional stop from a Fabio Silva header in the 84th minute. The save made the difference between three points and just one for West Ham, make no mistake about that:

Superb stuff from Areola. Now it’s time for Moyes to start him in every single match.

Whether the Scot sees what we all see is another matter though!

Alphonse Areola is clearly on another level to Lukasz Fabianski in every single department, and his display for West Ham Ham against Anderlecht last night is evidence of that.
