One West Ham United star really stood out during our disappointing 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United yesterday.
Newcastle came back from 3-1 down to beat West Ham in the Premier League at St James’ Park and we left Tyneside with our tails between our legs.
Hammers boss David Moyes was fuming after the game but his decision to bring Michail Antonio off and replace him with Kalvin Phillips with half an hour still to play cost us dearly.
The Scot explained that he made that change to give us more control in midfield, but it ended up having the opposite effect.

There were some brights sparks for West Ham on the day including the performances of the aforementioned Antonio, Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos.
On another day, we’d have won that game 4-2, and that result really does hurt. However, there was one standout player as far as I’m concerned, and his statistics back up that notion…
Outstanding West Ham ace stood out vs Newcastle
The Hammers have some truly sensational players amongst our ranks at the London Stadium right now.
Our defending is absolutely woeful and needs to be addressed urgently, but we have attacking players who seem to bail us out time and time again.
Kudus, Paqueta and Bowen all either scored, assisted or did both against the Magpies, and it was a pleasure to watch them all perform the way they did.
One of those players really stood out for me against Newcastle yesterday afternoon…
Kudus was electric going forward for the Hammers, and he bagged a goal and an assist against the Toon.
His stats made for really impressive reading. The Ghanaian had 68 touches, attempted three shots and made two key passes. He made five tackles and completed six dribbles (Who Scored).
What really stands out to me there is the five tackles that he made, and that stat clearly highlights how seriously Kudus takes his defensive duties.
Not only is he an exceptional player going forward, but he can also be relied upon to put in the hard yards tracking back.
It’s not often you can say that about flair players. Well done Mo, you were absolutely brilliant for West Ham against Newcastle yesterday. It was an all-action performance and he was unlucky to end up on the losing side.
